As with anything there is a ebb and flow to existence. Ups and downs, wins and losses, trials and triumphs. The Stoics teach us not to waste our time when things don’t go our way, not to worry about the things out of our control. If misfortune befalls us on Friday don’t waste the weekend when you know Monday will bring the peace of a new week, resolution lies within us, the only thing that changes is our perception and perception is in our control. This concept is easy to understand but isn’t always easy to put into practice. We are human and we have human constructs in which we exist, if you find yourself walking in the fog of failure or self pity, don’t think this a lost battle. Instead think of the time it takes to escape this dark valley of the mind. When adversity hits climb back up to your peace, and each time find a quicker route. Measure your success not by whether or not you visit, but how quickly you leave.
